Children with food allergies and celiac disease are being denied safe meals at school. This is unlawful and unacceptable. Sign now to demand that school Food Service Programs serve safe meals to every child, every day.

THE BACKGROUND: Over 1 in 13 children in the U.S. live with food allergies or other dietary restrictions, including Celiac Disease. These children are often excluded from school-provided meals due to a lack of clear procedures to accommodate them.
While other children can rely on the cafeteria for daily nutrition at no cost, children with dietary restrictions are frequently forced to go without food, bring their own food, or fight to have their voices heard, placing a significant burden on families, especially those who are food insecure.
The result? Isolation, anxiety, and hunger—all during the school day when children should be focusing on learning.

THE FACTS: Per the USDA Food and Nutrition Service, ALL schools are federally required to provide meal accommodations for children with disabilities, yet without a standardized procedure on how to do this, students with dietary needs are often left unfed or unsafe. These students will continue to fall through the cracks of school meal programs without immediate change.

THE REALITY: The number of children with food allergies, celiac disease, and other dietary restrictions continues to rise, and the federal mandate requiring accommodations for disabilities, including dietary restrictions, is already in place.

What’s missing? Implementation. With growing awareness and advancements in safe, allergen-free meal solutions, there is no excuse for inaction.

THE SOLUTION: We must act now to protect the health of these children, uphold their Civil Rights, and ensure that school is a place where every child is seen, supported, and safely fed. Let's be their voice.

OUR DEMANDS:
Daily Inclusion: Require ALL school Food Service Programs to include clearly labeled, well-balanced, allergen-free meal options on their published menus every school day.

Standardized Access: Implement a uniform, transparent process for families to request and receive safe, allergen-free meals, removing barriers and reducing confusion.

Require Safety: Mandate that school food service programs provide 100% safe meals for students with dietary restrictions, free from cross-contamination, so no child is at risk of illness or harm from the food meant to nourish them.

Add your voice! Sign this petition to demand a national standard for providing allergen-free meals in schools. Because being left out at lunch isn’t just unfair; it's unlawful, it's unethical, and it's preventable.
